"Tari Persembahan" Minangkabau on Pariaman Wedding Party

This Minangkabau traditional dance was performed at our wedding party (Poppy and Gusri’s wedding) in Masjid Akbar Kemayoran, Jakarta, in 12th April 2008. It is called “Tari Persembahan” (Tribute Dance) to welcome the groom and bride mounting the throne (as they are both king and queen for a day.)

The party was conducted in Padang Pariaman theme as the bride is originally from Pariaman ethnic group.

As the bridegroom sit, the dancers resume another Minang traditional dance: “Tari Piring” (Plate Dance). They dance with plates on their arms, moving and turning around.

At first, i didn't like her, as i prefer Whitney Houston. I thought she whispered too much. You know...when she had to felt from high tones to low ones, she always makes wheezing sounds, and that's bothering! However, it's hard to resist her lovely songs. And her marketing strategy of collaborating with recent top singers makes her permanently welcomed. Well, she melted my heart already. I closely have every album and live performance of hers.

Living in Bali, Island of Gods

On august 1999 i had to go to Bali for a working attachment at PT. Triaco Bali Hijau, Sanur, Bali. I went to Bali with Alex and Hilal. It took more than 24 hours to get there. Nevertheless, we were really having fun during the journey.

Having arrived in Sanur around 12:00 AM we met Triaco's staffs at their office who then drop us off to our new boarding house. All of us used to sleep in a small room together.

On monday til friday, we used to wake up in the morning and go to work.

Every weekend we spent our time at beach. On leisure time, we went to many attractive object such as Uluwatu, Gitgit, Ubud, Kintamani, etc. Once in a while we went to Hard Rock Cafe Bali on Kuta Beach. We were dancing on the floor when Sheila On 7 (currently the most well-known rock band in Indonesia) performed live show at HRC Bali. I remember that well.

We lived in Bali for eight weeks. It was 4 weeks shorter than our plan before. On our last day at the office, we held a small party at the office. It was really small farewell party that we just had some cookies and three bottle of coke. The following day, we went back to Bandung and once more we were having fun during the journey.

I was a high school student when Hakeem Olajuwon of Houston Rocket won the ring of NBA champion. And somehow I was then the Olajuwon who could grasp the ball with only one arm. Wondering how big my arm was? Well, I found the trick to deceive spectators. Hehehe!

Rapid changes has developed Palembang City into a metropolitan city. Many great buildings of commercial and amusement was erected to accomodate people's need. Urban landmarks has been preserved as it is also a heritage artifacts which represent the city's identity. In October 2004, I had a great time exploring my origin city. The Concept
+ The client asked for an informal appearance for that prospectus. Therefore, i chose oblique curves and lines; and to make it merrier, i used cheerful major colors ; blue, green, and purple. Those three materials were in that same theme.

In this project, we accomplished 2 animations for 2 areas with duration of 45 second length for each.

2003 Personal Calenders for Member of Garuda Baseball Club, Jakarta

Garuda Softball & Baseball Club in Jakarta has 175 active members. They were ranged 15 - 21 years old.
Under brand "A+R Design", my friend and I took orders from 60 players to produce their personal calendars of 2003.

The Manipulations
Simply combined the photo with the calendar and club's logo. Copied the photo to yield two identical pictures; i cropped one and got the 'focal point' picture while the other was the background which had got adjustment of channel mixer, color balance, or desaturation. The next thing was adding the text. Technically, it was simple. The hardest things was to find out the appropriate composition for the five elements: calendar, photo, logo, background, and the text.

Alteration Project of Sukri Family's Residence in Palembang City (January 2003)

This family of three children (two sons and one daughter) needs a better spatial quality inside their house as well as to expand it laterally and vertically. They have joined two previous row house into a couple-symmetrical one. That's the initial existence i have to alter.

The Concept
Main consideration about the alteration was to find out appropriate massing that could yield minimal structural alteration. The next consideration was to allow fresh air easily flow through the house instead of being trapped within by arranging proper lay-out, as well as equipping the house with void, reasonable cross-ventilation (openings) and back yard.
"Borrowing space" were performed in this house that made the interior seem wider. They were the void, half-enclosed wall, and the no-partition-sitting room.

In October 2002, my friend, Hilal and I established a satay hawker named "Tesate" in Bandung City.

Satay is one of Maduranese cuisine. It is small pieces of meat roasted on skewer. Basically, You can have any meat to be skewered, but in our place, you will savor delicious satay of chicken, sheep, or cow.

Unlike other satay hawkers, we offer different taste of sauce: the truly sauce of Madura. And we always mix good quality ingredients for it.

Municipal government of Malang City in association with IAI-Malang (Indonesia's Association of Architects of Malang City) held this design competition as the municipal government planned to erect a new building for museum of archeology amidst the city.

I was an assistant architect as well as a computer-rendered-3D-model-operator of a 3-person-team led by Mr. A.D. Tardiyana, the Principal Architect.
The building had to be a landmark of the city as well as a pride of all Malang people.

Manipulations:
My team had only six days to rush the project. Hence, we worked on 'fast-track' way. Some ideas about the details just came up when we were drawing them. We discussed the ideas and sometimes we had to revert to the previous drawing.
My colleague made the 3D models while I was on focus making realistic rendering. We had our computers connected each other; It was really helpful that we could transfer our files easily. As finishing touch, I used images of people, tree, and the museum collections.

The Concept
+ Museum could also be a place for community's activities. Community could sit and enjoy the atmosphere of the surrounding on the grass-covered-slope lawn. + The fussion of "the old" and "the new". Clean-cut concrete appearance played as "the new" and the Hindu-temple look was "the old". + The building acted as a city monument as well as a landmark.

Second Place Winner

I was an assistant architect led by Team Leader/Principal Architect, Mr. A.D.Tardiyana, Ir,MUDD.
The house was for no-kid-young couple. They were both mathematician who lectures in Twente University, Netherlands (the husband) and in ITB (the wife). They both were art-lover and expected a "clean-cut", modern house on a quite steep hill, situated in Dago Pakar, Bandung, Indonesia.

Manipulations:
My team had to work on the same room as well as the same time since we had only two days to rush the project. Hence we worked on 'fast-track' way. Some ideas about the details just came up when we were drawing them. We discussed the ideas and sometimes we had to revert to the previous drawing.
My colleague, Rini made the 3D models while I was on focus making realistic rendering. We had our computers connected each other; It was really helpful that we could transfer our files easily. As finishing touch, I used image processor to fix the flawed rendered-images instead of repairing the AutoCAD 3D object and re-render since it took time shorter. I also add up images of tree into the repaired rendered images.
After 18 hours of non-stop-working, we produced 9 rendered-images ready to lay-out.

The Concept
+ Thin building to allow natural ventilation. + Creating space in-between for outdoor activities and social gathering as well as sculpture display; at the same time it minimize cutting and filling. + Light and transparent building on a heavy base could act as a "torch". + Layer of space to create intense experience. + Utilize planar elements to display artwork as well as architectural statement.

They are the heroes of my teenager days! Knowing that a cassette was an expensive thing for teenagers, my brothers and i persistently skimped our money then. We bought their albums one by one and eventually collected all their albums.
"Black" album was my last favorite 'coz their later albums weren't as good as the previous ones. Metallica had made two nights of their live concert in my country (1992?). What a 'once in a lifetime' moment! Unfortunately, i was far..far away in my quiet house. :=( I could only see the news on TV that they ended in chaos. Fire's flaming as cars were burned outside the arena. People who couldn't watch the concert were raging.

The client plans to build the house gradually as far as much amount money they have. At the end, they will have two-floor house whereas temporarily one-floor should be the nice one either.

The Concept
First and main consideration about the alteration is to find out appropriate massing and structure likewise that could be applied on both condition, one-floor and two-floor. Since its posts and beams must be able to support two-floor load, new columns proposed to be erected.
Mass are divided into three distinct structures of roof whereby mid-roof are higher than others in order to engage playful appearance of mass as well as to provide venetian blind which allow hot air to flow out instead of being trapped within. Furthermore, this separated-roofs anticipate future vertical expansion that second floor will be on the rear house with a void equipped on the middle.

A family, parents with three little sons, intended to expand their small house, both laterally and vertically. The family needed larger master bedroom with its own bathroom, one larger family room, one bedroom for their biggest son and one other bedroom for their twin kids, and also one maid's bedroom.

In order to minimize the expenses, the client asked to maintain the left part while took apart the right to have the wooden second floor. They didn't have much money; hence they planned to use wood as its major material while wooden stair would be the artistic point.

The Concept

Sanitary dwelling is the main objective for each house design. Thus, letting fresh air easily flow through the reasonable openings attains the purpose. Small garden at the backside and the void in the middle of the house are purposed for that concern. Transparent wall of kitchen over the backyard make the room seems wider as well as the void does. It is considerable attempt to retain prior structure and utilities while only a few later structures performed.

Marina of Tanjung Lesung Tourism Area (Design Thesis) (june 2000)

Undergraduate assignment

Tanjung Lesung Coast, Banten, has a lot of tourism potencies that has not been revealed yet. PT Banten West Java, a developer, proposed to attend its development by performing tourism objects and also furnishing an international-level marina.

I was involved in the planning and designing of this marina as my final project (AR450 - Design Thesis).

Manipulations:
2D and 3D appearances using AutoCAD R14 (courtesy of Autodesk) equipped by plug in ArchT (courtesy of Ketiv). Hard copies were printed document with 1:400 scale model made of various papers and foam rubbers.

The Concept

With regard to this marina was located in a recreational area, so that my design truly considered that the marina should possess extra fascination besides its own berthing and mooring functions. Waterfront enchantment and activities were the potencies that consciously emerged to design theme while functional needs were simultaneously facilitated. I also arranged site's element and the building's as well in a way that consequently emanate the festival atmosphere. All attempts wind up in a figure of marina, which is comfortable, pleasant, and surely working.

Once an apprentice, i was involved in a team - led by Ir. Antonio Ismael who received Aga Khan Award in 1989 upon Citra Niaga Project in Samarinda - Indonesia - which worked on community's project proposal and miscellaneous documents in a way to ensure good communication lines between the community and related stakeholders.

The project have been conducting in novel approach i.e. community participatory planning whereby the underlying approach calls for the mobilization of various key resources available in the hands of, not only, the Local Government, the Central Government, nor the Private Sector but, most important, it included the participation of the existing inhabitants, the low income families that occupied the area. A total participation of all sectors.

The long effort and struggle (they could take years) will be the process of convincing, promoting, and integrating all these participating sectors and designing not only a "self cost recovery" / "self financed", "self sustaining" project but a profitable venture.

Posters for Foster Tree Campaign of Kuta Beach, Bali (November 1999)

In order to make Kuta Beach looks green and shady, a local landscape consultant, in partnership with Badung Municipality (the administrator of Kuta Beach area), proposed a project of planting trees around the beach. To ensure the growth of the trees, they campaigned Foster Tree Program. Many posters were made to persuade foreigner and local people joining the program. While an apprentice, I had involved in making posters. And here is one of a few posters i made.

The Manipulations
Rapid freehand sketch using marker, scanned, and little Adobe Photoshop's touch for the texts. Afterwards, the poster was color-printed.

The Concept

Raw colors impress the happiness. Yes,..the happiness you will gain by fostering that tree. It's joyful to own something you can take care of. No matter what the species or how its shape. As long as you raise it sincerely, you will feel that love nests in your heart. That's a blessing, indeed. :-)

Waiting for Decay (August 1998)

I compiled my most favorite romantic songs to a blank cassette. I named it "Waiting for Decay". What decay? Or, it's more likely to ask 'whose decay, anyway? :-) I made the image which was intended to be its cover. Too bad, it's never been printed since glossy paper and color printing are very expensive here.

The Manipulations
Simply combining three images (i.e. angel, lightning, and big eye) which had been performed brightness-contrast and level adjustment. Courier-New texts were treated with little embossing and its gray gradient line above as well.

The ConceptPatiently, the angel is awaiting. Despite lightning strikes, the awaiting goes on. And It's more likely that the lightning itself will be the cause of the expected decay. (Expected? The decay of one should be the other one's rise. In other words, that's an important moment! and it deserves to be awaited for). Actually, that lightning has an ambiguity existence. It frightens the angel as simultaneously it also helps her to get the decay occur.

Grand and Soft Opening Publications for BlOop Station Internet Cafe (June 1999)

As the Head of Publications Division for Bloop Station Internet Café, i was in charge of interpreting company marketing strategies to miscellaneous interesting media i.e. posters, banners, flyers, leaflet, stickers, and radio advert. With regard to publication is the cutting-edge of marketing, It is imperative to accomplish the job earnestly. It's surely the most important thing for new established enterprise.

One of my early job was producing these opening posters. The white one announced soft opening event as the purple one did the grand opening. We, the team, propagated them around the city. We sticked them to walls, poles, public boards, and so forth.

The Manipulations

Pixel image (jpeg) of the logo converted to vector by tracing it first. All creative processes were taken on software Corel Xara.

The Concept

Upon formula AIDCA (Attention, Interest, Desire, Conviction, Action), introducing something really brand new must be initiated by awakening else's attention. Therefore, it's not the texts but the images that meant to be the focal point. Bright colors attract people easier. Only three colors used for each poster whereas the budget went only as far as three-color-printing price.

Bloop Station Internet Cafe

In 1999, my friends and I established an internet cafe, called "blOop station". It was located at Jalan Cihampelas amidst commercial zone in Bandung City. I still remember the day we attended the soft opening of our blOop station. It was 7th of June 1999, the day of the Indonesian election party toward the new regime. :)

For us, this was not merely an internet cafe, but also a base camp, a workshop, job, and egalitarian community of ours. We learned, we played and we surely had cheerful joys there.

It's my ship to had journeys beyond space and time!

It started with comprehending the principle of load and torque pertaining to multi-storey building as the structural consequences by the building's form chosen by architect.

The Concept

Twelve storeys of steel structure standed upon three storeys of concrete structure and two-storey basement. As an anvil, the concrete beam and column must have stand sturdily to uphold the steel structure. To respond lateral load and torque which could make the propeller-shape building turns, this shape was treated as four separated steady structure between one Core, and three similar Boxes on wings. Steel braces in each boxes tightened the rigid frame form of the boxes.

First assignment as sophomore. Site were located in front-side of campus complex. The canteen were aimed to serve up to 20 persons.

Manipulations:
Pencil Technique for orthogonal drawing; color-pencils were used for perspective drawing.

The Concept

Campus ITB complex, where the site locating, consists of three zone of building theme. It is preservation (old) theme on the front zone, contemporary theme on rear, and mix-theme on between. Since the canteen standed on front zone, it was necessary to be harmonious to its surroundings. It was proven by using same material as nearby buildings do i.e. shingle roof, patched stone, and exposed wood. In order to make it seems wider, no massive walls but transparent ones had been applied.

I never listened to that progressive rock band before, but their goddamn great harmonies persistently took possession of my soul! I've been infected and became their big fan!

This was my assignment on subject "Introduction to Architecture II" (AR-112) in the first year at ITB. I did the preliminary design on papers. Actually, it didn't have to be computerized; but i took the initiative to have my early practice of using the computer applications.

The Concept
The gate takes the opposite metaphor against the forest. The forbel boxes (inspired by architect Frank Lloyd Wright) are so massive and hard, facing the pervious-flexible trees. It is a platonic form amongst irregular forms of trees. 'Vis a vis' stands in harmony. Contrast!

The Concept

Bila Anda bekerja di perusahaan konservatif, sebaiknya memilih pantalon formal dengan warna-warna klasik. Namun bila Anda bekerja di perusahaan entertainment, pers, atau jasa kreatif, bisa memilih celana bermodel kasual seperti celana khaki, korduroy, jins atau pantalon warna terang untuk penampilan smart casual.

Celana khaki bisa dipadankan dengan kemeja warna apapun. Pantalon formal cocok dipadankan dengan kemeja formal, sebaliknya pantolan kasual bisa dipadankan dengan kemeja kasual, kaus polo dan T-shirt.

Untuk pergi ke kantor, pria tampak lebih bagus bila mengenakan pantalon yang memiliki pleats (lipatan di depan celana yang dijahit pada ban pinggang) daripada celana ketat. Dengan mengenakan pantalon ber-pleats pria akan merasa lebih nyaman, baik pada saat duduk maupun bergerak. Pantalon ber-pleats juga tampak lebih dressy dan benda-benda yang dimasukkan ke dalam saku pantalon tidak tampak menonjol. Namun pleats harus terlihat rapi, yaitu ‘jatuh’ dengan baik, tidak tampak terbuka atau miring. Lihatlah kerapian jahitan yang menyatukan pleats dengan ban pinggang. Juga perhatikan jahitan pada pleats: paling sedikit 1,5 centimeter untuk menjaga agar pleats tidak terbuka. Ia harus tampak rapi pada saat dikenakan.

Crease (lipatan setrika pada pipa celana) harus tepat membelah tempurung lutut, lurus, dan jatuh tepat pada bagian tengah sepatu. Saku pada samping celana harus tertutup rapi dan menempel pada pinggul.

Crease di bagian bawah pantalon sebaiknya sedikit tertekuk di atas sepatu, sehingga panjang pantalon tersebut cukup untuk menutupi kaus kaki ketika Anda melangkah. Dengan demikian ada tekukan sedikit pada crease. Lebar bagian bawah pantalon sebaiknya menutupi dua pertiga sepatu.

Pastikan bahwa pantalon diberi grip (kain pelapis khusus di balik ban pinggang untuk menjaga agar kemeja tetap rapi dan agar ban pinggang tampak lebih bagus).

Pantalon ber-pleat biasanya diberi turn-up atau cuff (lipatan balik pada bagian bawah pipa celana) agar bagus jatuhnya. Pantalon bermodel flat (tanpa pleat) tidak memiliki cuff.

Cuff yang standar lebarnya tidak lebih dari tiga centimeter. Pantalon ber-cuff tampak kurang formal, itu sebabnya pantalon untuk tuxedo tidak boleh memiliki cuff. Perhatikan bagian dalam cuff, apakah rapi jahitannya? Lipatan cuff juga harus benar-benar firm.

Jangan mengenakan pantalon terlalu ketat untuk bekerja. Pleats jangan tampak terbuka pada saat pemakainya dalam posisi berdiri. Cobalah pantalon dalam posisi berdiri, duduk, dan menyilangkan kaki. Pantalon tidak boleh ada kerutan pada bagian pantat. Agar penampilan lebih rapi, sebaiknya saku pantalon tidak penuh oleh dompet, berbagai kunci, ponsel, dan sebagainya.

Sebelum membeli pantalon, tak ada salahnya bila Anda mendengarkan pengalaman teman-teman tentang pantalon merek tertentu sebab tidak semua pantalon merek terkenal memiliki kualitas bagus.

Aku keluar kamar. Ada orang di kamar mandi. Terpaksa ditahan dulu. Cari minum dulu saja. Segelas susu. Segar!

Waduh, kok ibu bikin nasi goreng lagi sich. Sepertinya sarapan pagi semakin membosankan. Makan sedikit (abisnya nggak nafsu sich), terus loncat ke kamar mandi. Hihihi..., pelepasan yang menyenangkan bikin mulut bersenandung selama mandi.

Tadi ada yang kecopetan di bis. Ibu muda. Kasihan. Mana bawa anak lagi. Tapi nyebelin juga, abis bayinya rewel. Nangis terus.

Menyelinap masuk bukan sesuatu yang sulit. Ala bisa karena biasa. Tinggal panjat tembok belakang, sedikit menunduk, nyumput, trus menunggu dengan sabar. Kimia disambung Fisika tentu bikin bosan. Terkurung dinding kelas yang meski penuh gambar para pahlawan malah memalaskan perjuangan. Sedikit terhibur karena Bunga ada di depan. Alam menciptakan keindahan dan alam menciptakan pengagungan. Bunga diciptakan untuk dipetik dan itu yang aku dan teman-teman lakukan di kala iseng. Kadang ia marah, tapi apa peduli kami.
Rumus-hukum berseliweran. Terlalu cepat. Aku ngerti ini tapi aku kurang paham dari mana datangnya itu.
Bunga keluar kelas. Saatnya pula keluar kelas. Jam istirahat.

Kandidat yang tidak memakai pakaian yang tepat dianggap tidak terlalau berminat akan pekerjaan yang ditawarkan. Setidaknya itu pikiran yang Ada di kepala sang pewawancara. Karena itu pula sebaiknya Anda memakai pakaian rapi yang standar. Tetap modis, tetapi jangan terlalu modis – apalagi menunjukkan fashion statement Anda - untuk menunjukkan respek Anda akan situasi yang ada. Saat memilih pakaian, ada dua kategori yang harus Anda ingat. Apakah untuk business ocassion atau untuk social ocassion (party, acara di rumah teman, atau dinner di restoran). Ini sangat menentukan pakaian apa yang akan Anda kenakan. Pakaian yang Anda kenakan akan menunjukkan imej Anda. Kalau Anda berpakaian untuk business ocassion, tentu saja yang paling pantas adalah memakai setelan jas lengkap atau kemeja dengan celana panjang. Tapi bagaimanakah kalau Anda pergi untuk social ocassion?

Ada beberapa pilihan yang Anda bisa lakukan untuk social ocassion. Kalau Anda ingin tampil casual Anda bisa mengenakan kemeja atau polo shirt yang dipadukan dengan sweater atau sport jacket. Paduan jenis ini bisa dipakai saat menghadiri party atau dinner. Anda terlihat santai namun tetap rapi. Atau Anda bisa juga tampil sporty dengan menggunakan t-shirt dan jeans dengan sepatu kets. Ini bisa digunakan saat Anda ingin pergi ke café, mal, atau pergi ke rumah teman.

Banyak pilihan yang bisa dipadupadankan. Pada intinya, pilihlah pakaian yang sesuai dengan tempat ke mana Anda akan pergi. Jangan takut untuk mencoba memadupadankan. Yang pasti, tetaplah menjadi diri Anda sendiri karena tidak semua pakaian cocok untuk setiap orang. Selamat mencoba!

GRA associates won the second place in Design Competition of Data & Communication Center of Department of Public Works. In the competition held by PT Indah Karya and Ikatan Arsitek Indonesia (Indonesia Institute of Architects), GRA (Gubah Reka Asia) worked in a team with Principal Architect Laksmi Tunggadewi and Vincentius Hermawan. The Team came up with a design of a friendly government building to go beyond other 72 contenders.

Ingat lagu itu?

Ya, itu lagunya Anggun C. Sasmi yang top sekali di tahun 80-an.

Saat ini di kantor lagi gemar bernostalgia memutarkan lagu itu. Dengan kata lain, lagu Anggun itu kembali nge-hit di kantorku.

Wuih, jadi "melambung jauh" juga nich,..melambung ke masa-masa 80-an. Kala lagu itu pertama kali dibawakan, aku masih SD. Dan hebatnya, sang penyanyi saat itu baru berusia belasan tahun dan duduk di bangku SMP. Wuah,..wuah..wuah.. Hebat sekali si Anggun ya?

Jadinya, aku juga teringat ujaran seorang pengusaha senior yang kutemui beberapa minggu lalu. Kata beliau, ada 8 macam kecerdasan yang dipunyai manusia. Salah satunya adalah kecerdasan musikal. Dan untuk bisa menjadi kelas dunia maka kecerdasan yang ada musti telah dilatih sejak umur tiga tahun.

Sebagai misal, Tiger Wood punya kecerdasan kinetik. Dan Tiger Wood sudah mengasah kecerdasannya itu sejak dini. Bahkan di usia 3 tahun, ia sudah bisa menjuarai turnamen golf mengalahkan lawan-lawannya yang berusia 8 - 10 tahun. Tidak heran bila kemudian ia menjadi prodigy dan bisa menjadi legenda golf di usia muda seperti sekarang.

Nach,..kembali ke Anggun C. Sasmi tadi,..pantas juga kalau saat ini ternyata Anggun bisa menjadi penyanyi kelas dunia. Go International. Hasil yang ia kecap itu ternyata bukanlah sulapan sekejab. Kesuksesan itu memang pantas ia raih, hasil kerja kerasnya sejak usia balita.

Lalu, bagaimana halnya dengan beberapa artis-artis karbitan sekarang yang "katanya" ingin Go International?

A smile of pride that has been absent among many of us, especially the young people for to long. This is not because there’s nothing to smile about or to be proud of, but rather because we often refuse to think and see the world around us more positively.

"This is what i gather from young people that i most often meet in business, in the bureaucracy, at social gathering at public places or even campuses. Most of the time i feel that Indonesia's younger generation talks to much and acts too little".

"it is time for Indonesia to speak about its experience, good or bad, and all the achievements we have earned to date. We must prefer to learn from others rather than to say what we want. We must also do things from the heart than for whatever is wrriten on our 'hat'".

Joe, The Introvert

Joe was an introvert kid. Even when he was then in university, he never have a gut to have dated a girl.

One night, his dormitory-mate, Jack, made a irresistable proposal. He insisted Joe to be introduced to a girl, friend of Jack's fiancee, who was in a vacation in the girl dormitory.

Joe was very inferior, "You don't need to do that, Jack. I'm not interested in blind date," Joe refused.

"You dont' have to be afraid, Joe," Jack assured, "Julie is a special one. She's smart and she's so pretty"

"No, Jack. I don't feel good"

"This won't be a failure situation. I will give you a way out then", Jack said.

"How?"

"Well, when we pick them from their dorm, you just have to wait in front of the door and check it out. If you like her, then it be very good. You will enjoy a very enjoyful night. But if you don't like her, you just need to have a sudden asthma attack. Hold your neck and scream:

''Aaarrrrrrggghhhhhhh!!!'

Pretend as if you were out of breath.
And then, she would ask you, 'What's up?'
And you reply, 'i have asthma attack. So sorry that we need to cancel our date'.
Seeing you like that, i think she would agree then."

Joe was still in doubt but agree to try it. "it's nothing to lose situation", he thought so.

When they arrive in girl's dorm, Joe knocked the door. A Girl stepped out.
Joe stared at her and he just could not believe his eyes.

She was very pretty. "Wow, how lucky i am", Joe thought. He was speechless.

The girls also looked at Joe from up to toe, and suddenly she scream:
"Aaarrrrrggggghhhhhhh!!!!"

Magnificent MU, Magnificent Nani

It's so unbelievable!
MU crashed Arsenal with 4 goals in FA Cup 5th round 2008. No ROnaldo, but MU still have his imitating, Portuguese-national-team-mate-Nani.
Nani played the very important role in that game to crowned him Man Of The Match. He made one goal as well as two assists. Magnificent!

MU created an opening goal by Wayne Rooney who altered the header assist from Anderson when the scrimmage start from the corner.
And the second goal came when the magnificent Nani deceived the Arsenal defenders to deliver an assist to Darren Fletcher who headed it easily.
And the third goal came again from Nani himself when he came from behind to accept the through pass from Michael Carrick and realeased a volley to beat the goalkeeper, Jans Lehmann.
And the fourth goal, once again came from Nani whoo deliver a great pass to (once again) Darren Fletcher to header.

In this game, both teams made unusual starting eleven to benched their important players. MU made a 4-5-1 formation to let Rooney became the single striker.

On the second half, MU switched the position of Nani and Ji Sung Park when Louis Saha and substitued Rooney.

The History of Pempek

Empek-empek, or pempek, is a popular food in Indonesia.

The food which came from Si Apek, in the riverside of Musi, can be found easily in the restaurant or even food stall. Children, Kids, and the adults love this kind of food. Pempek contains much amount of protein, fat, carbohydrate, vitamin, and minerals.

Regarding its history, pempek has come up in Palembang since the days of Chinese immigrants enter Palembang. It's about in 16th century, when Sultan Mahmud Badarudin II ruled in Sriwijaya Empire. Sompe people believe that the "empek-empek" was named after "apek", the nickname for a Chinese blooded-old man

According to the folklore, in the 1617, a 65 year old "apek"who lived in Musi riverside watched fisherman catch fish. They yield very much. It's too excessive. And people only consume the fish by frying or boil it.

Apek then came up with an alternative way to process the fish. He blended the fish with cassava powder and it became a new kind of food. He sold the food around the city riding bike. Since the salesman was Apek (Chinese blooded person), people called them "pek...apek",. Therefore, the food was then popular as empek-empek or pempek.

Sriwijaya FC, The Double Winner

Sriwijaya FC, the footbal club from Palembang City just won the final battle of Indonesian League Championship to be crowned as the double winner for the season 2007 - 2008.
In the final match, Sriwijaya FC, Palembang beat PSMS, Medan with 3 - 1 score in extra time.

Several weeks before, Sriwijaya FC has win the Copa Dji Sam Soe Indonesia, the National Trophy of Football.
This double achievement made Sriwijaya FC the first team in Indonesia who ever win two tournaments in one season. Unbelievable!

In the final match, Sriwijaya created the opening goals in the first hal after Obiora strike a close range finish when he received an assist from Zah Rahan's free kick.
In the second half, PSMS made a fighting goal by James Cocolomel. The score was then 1 -1.

The match went to extra time, and in the second half of extra time, Keith Kayamba Gumbs scored the winning goals.
And in the nick of time, Zah Rahan completed the winning by his goals altering blunder of the goalkeeper, Marcus Horison.

This match was held in Stadion Jalak Harupat in Kabupaten Bandung.

Indonesia di Era Soeharto

salah satu hal di kala jaman Pak Harto yang kuingat adalaj pelajaran Menyanyi di kala SD.
Di masa, tiap minggu pasti ada jam pelajaran menyanyi. dan peraturannya jelas:
1. Maju ke depan satu per satu. Semua pasti dapat giliran
2. Tidak boleh menyanyikan lagu orang dewasa (kala itu belum ada lagu Peterpan, lagu Radja ataupun lagu Matta).
3. Dianjurkan menyanyikan lagu kebangsaan ataupun lagu perjuangan.
4. Lagu yang sama tidak boleh muncul dua kali.

Dengan banyaknya peraturan dan minimnya perbendaharaan lagu anak-anak di kala ituch (saat itu belum muncul lagu Eno: Semut-semut Kecil, atau Bondan: Si Lumba-lumba), tidak heran bila lagu yang muncul didominasi oleh lagu Pak Kasur ataupun Ibu Sud.
Lagu-lagu mereka merajai tangga lagu hits dan hanya bisa dikalahkan oleh lagu Satu Nusa Satu Bangsa, Padamu NEgeri, ataupun the No-1-Hits-For-the-decades: yaitu Garuda Pancasila.

Perkembangan televisi yang dimonopoli oleh TVRi juga memberi andil pada lagu-lagu yang kami bawakan.
Lagu terfavorit yang menjadi rebutan untuk dinyanyikan adalah "Album Minggu, Album Mingu,...Album Minggu Kita..." dan "Es Aa Ef Aa Er Ii,... Safari"...
Tentu saja karena kedua lagu itu berdurasi pendek sehingga tidak perlu berlama-lama gemetar di depan kelas.

Menariknya, fenomena ini bukan hanya terjadi di sekolahku yang notabene masih berada di "daerah" alias jauh dari ibukota. Setelah aku tanya teman-temanku yangmengenyam pendidikan di ibukota pun menagalami fenomena yang sama..
Menggelikan. Dan membuktikan bahwa betapa stereotipnya program pendidikan sekolah di kala itu.

Yach,..anyway,..mari berdendang
